Cutting & Grinding Discs

RUMMANA supplies resin-bonded cutting and grinding discs for steel fabrication, pipe work, shipyards and plant maintenance. The range runs from Ø75 mm micro discs to Ø400 mm cut-off wheels, with separate low-iron grades for stainless steel. It ships alongside our garnet and copper slag, so abrasive consumables for a project can come from one supply programme.

Type 41 flat cutting discs — metal

Brown fused alumina grain, resin bond, double fibreglass-net reinforcement. Small and medium diameters suit hand-held angle grinders. Ø250 mm and above run on cut-off saws and stationary cut-off machines. A stationary machine is recommended above Ø350 mm.

Grain codes: A24R-BF, A30R-BF.

Type 41 INOX and stainless steel cutting discs

White and zirconia alumina (WA / ZA) in a low-iron, low-sulphur formulation. Iron particles do not embed in the cut face, so the edge does not rust and welding or polishing can follow without extra cleaning. Colour-coded red, green or yellow so stainless discs are not mixed up with carbon-steel discs on site.

Standard sizes:

  • 100 × 2.2 × 16
  • 115 / 125 / 150 / 180 / 230 × 3.0 × 22.2
  • 250 × 2.8 / 3.2 × 25.4
  • 300 × 2.8 / 3.2 × 25.4
  • 350 × 2.8 / 3.2 × 25.4
  • 355 × 2.8 / 3.2 × 25.4
  • 400 × 2.5 / 2.8 × 25.4
  • 400 × 3.2 × 32
Note: Keep stainless discs for stainless work only. A disc used on carbon steel carries iron into the next stainless cut.

Thin and super-thin cutting discs

0.8–2.0 mm discs for a narrow kerf, lower cutting resistance, less burr and a smaller heat-affected zone. Used for thin-wall tube, sheet, precision parts and high-value alloys. Metal grade A46; stainless grade WA / ZA.

Standard sizes:

  • 105 × 1.2 × 16
  • 107 × 0.8 × 16, 107 × 1.2 × 16
  • 115 × 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 × 22.2
  • 125 × 1.0 / 1.2 / 1.6 × 22.2
  • 150 × 1.2 / 1.6 × 22.2
  • 180 × 1.2 / 1.6 × 22.2
  • 230 × 1.8 / 2.0 × 22.2
  • 350 × 2.5 × 25.4 (stainless)
Note: Thin discs are for straight cutting only. Never side-grind or side-load them.

Type 42 depressed-centre cutting discs

A, WA or ZA grain in a depressed-centre profile. The recessed hub clears the flange, so the disc can cut deeper and do light grinding without removing the guard. It is rigid and dissipates heat well in continuous work on high-power angle grinders. Typical grain code: WA30R-BF.

Sizes: 115 / 125 / 150 / 180 / 230 mm × 2.0 / 3.0 mm × 22.2 mm bore.

Selection: 2.0 mm for faster cutting; 3.0 mm for longer life in heavy continuous cutting.

Type 27 depressed-centre grinding discs

Brown alumina A24R-BF, resin-bonded. Worn grains break away to expose fresh cutting edges, so stock removal stays consistent. Used for weld dressing, bevelling, deburring, casting clean-up and surface conditioning. Work at an angle of 15–30°. A WA version for stainless steel is available from 100 to 230 mm.

Sizes:

  • 100 × 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 × 16
  • 115 / 125 / 150 / 180 / 230 × 6.0 × 22.2
Note: Grinding discs are never used for cutting.

How to select a disc

  1. Workpiece material: A grain for carbon and alloy steel; WA / ZA low-iron grades for stainless and heat-resistant steel.
  2. Machine: angle grinders take Ø75–230 mm; cut-off saws and stationary machines take Ø250–400 mm. The disc's marked rpm must not be lower than the machine's no-load speed.
  3. Thickness: thin discs for a narrow kerf and precision work; standard thickness for life and heavy cutting; 6 mm T27 for grinding.

Operating speed and safety

  • Each disc is marked with its maximum peripheral speed (80 m/s; 72 m/s on some large diameters) and the matching rpm for its diameter.
  • Discs are produced to EN 12413.
  • Mount with flanges at least one third of the disc diameter, and fit the blotters or washers supplied.
  • Cutting discs: feed squarely and never side-load. T27 grinding discs: work at 15–30° and let the tool's weight do the work.
  • Always use the machine guard and suitable PPE, and follow the instructions printed on the disc.
  • Store dry and flat, away from frost and humidity.

Packing and export supply

  • Inner packing in shrink film, paper card or colour box; outer packing in five-layer export cartons.
  • Pieces per carton depend on size (typically 25 for Ø250–400 mm, up to 1,000 for micro and thin discs).
  • Carton marks and inner labels can carry your own brand or project marking.
  • Full container, LCL and mixed-specification loads, and combined shipments with RUMMANA garnet and copper slag.
  • Samples available for trials before a volume order.
  • Other diameters, bores, thicknesses and packing can be made to order.
